You can leave your phone at home once setup and your subscription are ready. Heart-rate coaching and the bundled voices run on your Watch without a live internet connection. Weather information and subscription updates need a connection when they refresh.

Yes. Turn on Indoor in First Gear Settings on your iPhone or Apple Watch before you start. Your Watch coaches by heart rate and movement without requesting location or weather. Indoor sessions have no route map, distance, or pace.

Setup on your iPhone shows three on one screen, each with its own Choose button, and you decide in Apple's prompt. Health reads your heart rate and saves your runs. Motion & Fitness lets your Watch tell running from walking. You can finish setup whatever you answer, but sessions need both. Location is optional: it records your outdoor route, reads your pace, and checks the local weather. If you skip it, your Watch asks once before an outdoor session. When you tap Finish, First Gear also asks to send notifications for your training-day reminders. You can change any of these later in the Settings app, or in the Health app for Health.

First Gear processes coaching on your Watch and keeps its training history on your devices. There is no First Gear sign-in or training-data server. Workouts saved in Apple Health can sync or be shared under your Apple settings, and you can choose to export or share a session. The privacy policy explains those choices along with diagnostics, weather, and subscription services.
